Having digital X-rays taken is a quick and comfortable process that typically adds only a few minutes to your appointment.

A lead apron is placed over your body as a precautionary measure before any imaging begins.

Sensor Placement
A small digital sensor is positioned inside your mouth to capture images of specific teeth or areas of the jaw.

Image Capture
You will be asked to bite down gently to hold the sensor in place while the image is taken. The process takes only a few seconds per image.

Instant Review
Images appear on our screen almost instantly, allowing our team to review findings with you in real time during your appointment.
The Safety of Digital Dental X-Rays
Digital X-rays are safe for the vast majority of patients, including children. The radiation dose involved is extremely low and well within established safety guidelines. To put it in perspective, the exposure from a full set of digital dental X-rays is comparable to the amount of natural background radiation a person receives in a single day simply from the environment.
We exercise clinical judgment about when X-rays are necessary and never take images without a clear diagnostic purpose. For patients who are pregnant, we take additional precautions and typically postpone elective imaging until after delivery. If you have concerns about X-ray safety, our team is happy to discuss them with you openly at any time.
