What does getting dental implants involve?

The implant process involves multiple visits spread across several months.

First, X-rays and impressions are taken to assess the jaw and teeth, determining the available bone, gum tissue, and spacing for the implant. The implant is then surgically placed into the bone while the area is numbed, allowing for a healing period of up to six months for integration. Depending on the type of implant, a second surgery might be necessary to place the “post” that supports the artificial tooth, although some implants have the post and anchor already attached and placed simultaneously.

After a few weeks of healing, artificial teeth are created and fitted onto the post. This fitting process may require several visits, lasting one to two months. Once the artificial teeth are securely attached to the implant, they provide excellent stability and comfort.
